VehTrak™
Wireless Communications

The VehTrak Cell Phone Software uses the data communications provided by the phone on which it is run to transmit its data over the provider's wireless network, over the internet, and eventually to an application server. Wherever there is a cell signal for the phone, VehTrak can send its location data wirelessly to the application server. VehTrak is coded to periodically send its position, so even if a position message is missed due to poor cell coverage, its messages resume when the cell signal improves.

VehTrak is not coded for a particular wireless carrier's network. Vehtrak is coded using Java2 Micro Edition (J2ME) which provides a generic wireless communications interface which exists on any phone that supports Java regardless of the carrier. Thus, VehTrak automatically uses the network of the provider, such as iDEN or GPRS.
